6.9/7.3 Engine Difference

I did some horse trading and got a 85 f250 diesel truck. The VIN shows to have a 6.9 engine. The owners son (owner passed away) said they put a reman in it
2 years ago but thinks they put a 7.3 in it. Is there any way to tell which engine
it has in it? I am sure most parts interchange but I would like to know in case
I run into problems.
Thanks for your help
Rodney

6.9/7.3

Hi
6.9/7.3 are identified by stamping #s on flat surface of block,top
of front center around gear housing. (injection pump drive gear housing)
to the left. engine # looks like- 69LDM2U345678.
69=6.9 73=7.3
L=LITER
D=NATURALLY ASPIRATED. (NON TURBO)
M2=TRUCK USAGE
U=U.S.A.
345678=#OF ENGINES BUILT

BELOW 59209=6.9A
59209 TO 500000 =6.9B
500001 UP =7.3

Oem and International rebuilt engines all have this # there.
International rebuilt ones # stats same but 4th (D) becomes F
