OK, here's the deal. I have a transplanted FI 302 in a Jeep. The guy I bought it from said after it sets overnight your have to cycle the key about 4-5 times or it doesn't start right and run right. He told the truth. I can hear the pump come on the first time and every time after that but on the 4-5 try it starts and runs fine. He said he thought the fuel line were too big. I don't think thats the problem. It seems to take several hours for this to occur. I have let it set for a couple of hours and it starts up just fine. Any ideas I what I should check? The only pump is in the tank. Should I maybe install an addtional one on the frame between the tank and the engine? Thanks
Sounds like the check valve in the pump may be letting fuel drain back into the tank, then it has to refill the lines.
You know I thought about that but the guy said the tank and pump are all new. I think he mentioned he took the first one back and got another. I may be wrong though as I was once already this year.
I thought about that but wouldn't you think when you turn the key on hear the pump turn on and build up that would be all it needed? Maybe there is some timer that only lets it run for a few seconds or something if the motor isn't running. Then it might not build up enough until I do it several times. Jus thinking outloud.....
