anyone have any suggetions for front leveling spring for my 1994 4x4, it has the dual shock set up, the truck seems to sit low in the front, would like to level it out, any ideas, thanks Randy
Skyjacker has a leveling spring you can get...$130 for 1.5-2" of lift. (skyjacker.com)
They have daystar coil spacers but, they're about the same price and still require an alignment afterwards. You're better off with the new coil spring then a spacer.
you can go to napa and order larger springs(maybe f250 springs). napa can tell you the compressed hight of the spring so you can measure your current ones and see how much lift you will get. keep in mind that it's supposed to sit low in the front. a level truck doesn't serve much purpose unless you never carry a load.

do I measure the spring itself while its in the truck? I want to level it out only cause I like the look of it better level or even sightly higher in the front, thanks Randy

yea. climb under the truck and measure the spring. i think my old ones measured 11.5". i then went to napa and had them read off a bunch of #'s untill i found one i liked. the new ones are 13". they have larger, but i didn't want too much. i just got heavy duty F150 springs(towing package). i'm sure the f250 ones will bump you up a little more. the ride is also alot nicer. it handles turns better because the body roll is reduced and it doesn't bounce around as much. oh and i just installed them yesterday and it was really easy. as long as you have a long extension, a 1 1/8" deep socket, and a pipe to slide over the ratchet for leverage. good luck.
thanks, my truck has the tow package on it, so I'll maybe try a f250 spring, did you have to go to a longer shock? and probably have to get a wheel alignment to I assume, do you think I could measure my fender well height from the ground as it sits now, then start jacking the truck till I get to the height I like, then measure the fender well height again to check the difference(say 2"for example). then I will know exactly the height difference I want to go.sorry for the dumb question, but I'm not good at visualizing, I have to see it first. thanks Randy
I was playing around measuring different heights on the truck, and I noticed the passenger side fender well height is 5/8" lower than the drivers side, and the drivers side back fender well opening height is 1/4" higher than the passenger side back, the truck doesn't have any body damage, so I'm ruling out bent frame, is this difference in spring height common? the front springs are 12" high, so I'm probably looking for around a 2" higher spring. Randy
i actually did the same thing to get the height i wanted. i jacked up the front untill i got the height i liked.
as for one side being a different height than the other: thats normal. even after putting new springs there is still about 1/4" difference. there is about 3/8" difference in the back.
i didn't need new shocks, because they recommend the same shocks i already have for both the regular f150 and the towing packag f150. if you went up 2" i would put new shocks in. just talk to the people at the place you buy your shocks and they will be able to help you find the right ones. oh and you will definately need a wheel alignment. your tires will look like this \ / after you put the new spring in. i'm actually driving mine around for a few days before i get the alignment so they settle. i didn't want to get the alignment right away and then the springs settle a little bit only to throw it off.
I checked at a local parts store, they can get aftermarket springs, with some camber parts that come with it the spring set, for 270.00 canadian, that will give me 2"s of lift which should about level it off to were I like it, I'm not sure if thats expensive, I'll have to shop around.probably a spring compressor would come in handy trying to put those longer springs in, did you use one of those jessfactor?
