I'd like to change the exhaust on mine for various reasons, but the lawn-mower sound isnt one of those.
Anyone know if this engine will sound like the little 4 cyl ricers, or will it sound a little deeper?
I have a V6 in the Galant, its the same engine. I have a flowmaster 40 series, with a three inch exahaust from the cat back, and a 3 1/2 inch tip. It sounds quite good, not like a ricer at all, it almost sounds like a small V-8. Find a local muffler shop that specializes in high performance mods, they should be able to put together a package for your that sound like you want it to.
3 inch from the cat back? Did you lose any power with that setup? I wish someone who did that was 'round here. I hate to be a pioneer when it comes to spending money.
Didn't lose any power, nor did I gain any signifigant power either. But it sounds sweet. At the shop I did this at, he had a Nissan 4-banger truck there with the same exahust set up as my Galant, and it sounded deep, almost like a big V6 trying to be a V8.
Call some different shops, you'll eventually find somebody that cares about what they do and they will point you in the right direction. Try the hole in the wall places that are indedpendantly owned, they seem to know more. Hope this helps.
I think I know just the place. The just replaced the exhaust on my '79 Bronc about a year ago. I remember seening plenty of civics there..i'm sure SOMEONE took in something besides an econo car to be souped up.
Thanks for the thought, never even considered asking for references.
