customizing a 91 explorer
anyone ever heard of or seen/done this?
any info would be great.
thanks, steve
this sounds like a (BAD) idea and should (NOT) be attemped by any one if u really want a convertble buy a mustang or something it sounds like a BIG project that will only bring on BIG problems
but thats only my 2 cents The explorer was built with the body proving stabily to the frame. If you did this you would flex your frame so much that it would brake. Take the vette for example, the covertabe weights just as much if not more than the coupe. The reason is the structual support.
Chris
I've seen a fair share of custom convertibles. Just know that you'll greatly weaken the structural integrity of the truck by chopping the top. So be sure the rollbars you install actually strengthen the frame, not just make it look rugged. Also, know that a custom made convertible top won't be cheap and will probably leak.
Heh, unless you can garage it, then forget the top.
