I have a 2003, 4x4,shortbed ,crewcab. If I go down a washboard road it sounds like my doors are going to fall off. Anybody else have this? I hope that it is just in need of ajustment. Will find out next week maybe, when I take it in for the droon, lastest update, and hopefully they can put my tow haul back the way it was before the last up date?
When I first got my truck, someone posted the procedure for adjusting your doors. Anyone have it or know of it? But yes, Johndeer. I have a SC and the doors rattle going over rough roads which is about 80% of the city streets. They will spend millions on a AAA (minor minor league) baseball stadium but won't fix the darn streets. (end of rant).
I took my truck in 2wks ago, they replaced the rubber on all 4-doors. As far as the lates and greates update, I was told that it is for 9-03 and newer. Mine is a 06-03 what that has to do with it I dont know? So my tow haul still does not work anyway close to the way it did when new. They did find that the fuel whatever didnt take the last update, so they reflashed it again. They say I should be getting around 16 mpg now, right!!
I've taken my F250 SC back to the dealer 4 times for them to fix the door rattles. The last time, they changed all 4 door gaskets with ones embedded with some new type of silicone. Supposed to make the doors quit rattling. No such luck! The doors continue to sound like they are falling off when running down almost any street, washboard or not. Sounds almost like the driver door window is grinding against metal, as well. I was told by the diesel tech that Ford changed the locking/latching mechanism on the doors for the new 2003 body style. I reckon they just ain't got it just right yet. Not a single problem with the 6.0 diesel or the tranny!! Just the fit and finish of the doors. If anyone can point me to the thread on how to fix the doors, I sure would appreciate it!
the door seal TSB# is 17307 it is to replace the door seals it fixed 3 out of 4 on my truck, and you should call ahead and get them to order the seals might not have in stock. good luck.
Here is something to check. Mine ended up being the upper seal on mine that was making all the noise not the big door seal. I put a little silicon paste on it with a rag and it's all gone. Been silent for a month or more now. Might try it. My $.02
