Smile Tire selection

Has anyone put load range D LT tires (service description of 121, 122, or greater) on their Expedition or Navigator with stock suspension? Such as LT285/75/16 or LT285/70/17?

If so, what kind of tires?

How is the ride quality compared to stock?

How is the handling quality compared to stock?

What tire pressure do you run?

Any abnormal wear with the above tire pressure?

What was the reduction in gas mileage and off the line acceleration?

Anything else to share about this setup?

Thanks,
JAMES.

I've got LT285/75/16's on my unlifted 4x4. They are Bridgestone Dueler AT's with around 45K miles on them. For the first 35K or so miles they rode excellently and were super quite. Lately they've become a little loud but are still smooth riding. I run around 35psi in all four tires. There is a reduction in acceleration, but I'm not too worried about it. If I want brute power, I drive my '68 F250.

I have absolutely no regrets with the tire swap. I'll be buying new tires within the next year or so and will replace with the same size.

I've got 33X12.50X17 Mickey Thompson Baha's on my unlifted Truck.

I run 37 pounds in them and have no abnormal wear.
I didn't notice a big change in acceleration, but I lost about 1 to 1.5 mpg according to the onboard computer. ( I think it might be off a little. I haven't got a programmer yet.)
Ride quality suffered a little, but the increase in traction and performance offset any loss in ride.
When I have to replace them, I'll probably buy the same thing or maybe something a little more aggresive. These don't make a lot of noise so I may just stay with the Baja's.
Hope this helps.
