Flareside bed to frame rails
When I pulled the rails out that support the wood to the frame, they were completely shot. The one thing I thought, naw...didn't need to order. So...these rails are shot, will take 2 wks to get some more in, and...since I am adding a body lift to the truck...was thinking...
I was worried about adding the 3" body lift to the wood blocks that come with the step side (imagine a round lift block, on a rectangular piece of wood, with a bolt through it???), but now since the rails are shot...would a piece of rectangular tubing work instead of the rails and stock wood blocks? I know there will be some drilling so I can get the bolts into the bed (and large enough for a socket from the bottom side of the tubing)...but..?

I'm worried about the stability of the box as it is used weekly for hauling stuff, and I don't want to convert over to a reg box, yet still want to add the lift.
Ideas anyone?
