Question Temp Gauge troubleshooting help

Gonna try this again..

95 - f150 4x4 -- 5.0
I am working on a temp Gauge /sender problem. Gauge full left (cold)
Here it what I have: + 4.14 volts Solid, Not pulsing on the white and red wire to the sender. Taking wire 31 (W/R) to ground has no effect on the gauge position.
Now before I go into the dash ... procedures call for 5 volts pulsing is the 4.14 solid I have a symptom ,problem or neither ?

And If the Gauge is the bad boy are they avl individual or are we talking about a cluster??
As Note ,rest of the dask is OK... no problems

Thanks, R Green

Sounds like you do need to go into the dash. I would look for the white red wire on the cluster plug, and trace it up to the guage. I would again try to ground this wire at the guage to see if the guage will swing up to hot with the key in "run". If it does, the white/red wire must be broke in two somewhere in the harness, or maybe there is a bad connection at the dash cluster plug.
