IDing the transfer case
The truck was wrecked with the drivers side rear tire hitting a pole, and knocking it back 3.5". The rear drive shaft is missing also.
My best guess so far is the ts is a B-W 1345. I need to dig into it deeper on the ID and would like to have an auto OD tranny to help the 351 have better gas manners while crusing if it isn't one there already.
Any ideas, suggestions on what to put back in the truck? I want to use it for towing my 18 ft. car hauler, and going anywhere that I want to. I don't expect to go off roading so giant tires and lifts aren't what I'm looking for.

Do you know if I can use a B-W 1356?
John
I've been asking this myself in the drivetrain forum and haven't really gotten an answer no one seems to know if you can swap a np208/bw1345/bw1356 in place of each other
anyways, if the front of your transfer case is flat its a np208, if its ribbed, its a borg warner
I don't know why Ford switched from New Process to Borg Warner, but both are excellent transfer cases. The older NPs were bullet proof from what I have heard and read. With more and more 4X4s being sold every day B-W parts should be plentiful, should you need them. IMHO
