I have a 85 bronco I6 carb no a/c and no smog pump. I have to crank the idel up to around 1200 rpm just for it to barly run. it sputters and misses at that speed but runs great at 1500. also it runs hot, I can't get any codes at all, and every two weeks or so the battery runs dead. Vac is good, fuel pressure and vol. is good, choke works, new plugs. what is causing all this? How do I fix it?
Intake manifold tight? The front of mine works loose along with the exhaust. I loose #1 and it runs like crap.
On the battery draining, my E150 had a relay that failed. The relay left power to the carb to purge the carb for about 8 seconds after shutdown. You could hear a "ticking" sound--it actually sounded like water dripping. Relay was $26. Not sure where it is on a Bronco, but on E150 was behind the passenger side kick panel, hanging up in the bodywork. You can probably trace yours from the engine computer.
