I just did my first oil change and noticed that when I dumped the oil it had a green tinge and was rather cloudy looking. Coolant levels are fine. Did anyone else notice this when they did the first change? It looked like the first change on a newly rebuilt engine when all the assembly lube flushes out. Could this be what I am seeing here?
Did ya smell it to see if it smelled "sweet" like coolant?? I did my first oil change at 3000 miles and it looked like any other dirty oil when it gets changed.
No dye put in the oil to my knowlege. Truck had 154 miles on it when I bought it. No apparent coolant smell. No leaks anywhere other than the infamous rear main drop that doesn't get any worse.
I suspect the cloudiness is actually wear metals suspended in the oil. Common to see on a new engine at the first oil change. How many miles do you have on the oil?
I wouldn't be concerned over the cloudiness or color until you get the results back on the oil analysis report. What you are seeing is not unusual on a new engine.
