brake controller
in my 99 powerstroke, what wires can i tap into for power? Can I tap into
one that I already have used for a pyro, or will it blow a fuse or something?
Also what wire leading to brake controller plug is a hot wire for power?

you need to get a plug from ford. It will plug in under your dash and allow you to hook up a brake controller. You will just need to wire the plug to your controller, and with some trucks put a fuse, relay or breaker in. then you are in business.

the easiest, best, and most reliable way is to get the plug. you will spend more time trying to find the correct wires and hooking them up then just buying the plug, splicing the wires together and installing it. The hardest part about the intall will be choosing where to mount the controller and getting the plug in the socket.

I would replace the fuse with a circuit breaker. I don't know why Ford puts a fuse in the electric trailer brake circuit. If you get an intermittant short it will blow the fuse and you have no trailer brakes; with the circuit breaker you will at least get the brakes back. I got a circuit breaker that is shaped like a fuse and fit in the fuse slot.
