I am not a real knife collector all though I do have several knives. But the other day I was at work drving down the street and found a knife laying in the street. I stopped and picked it up and it was a smith and wesson hunting knife. I looked it up on the net and it is a first production model and there will be no more made. You can only buy them from collectors only. Its worth when new is $125.00. The knife I found is not new but I was wondering what it is worth??
I went to the airport Friday for a trip to VA to buy my Brother-in-law's van. Well, I failed to check my overnight bag prior to leaving the house. So, I get to the bag checkers, rolled it through the X-ray machine, and the guy asked to look in my bag. The first place he went was to pull out the pocket knife I've had for 15 years. It didn't pass the length test, so they kept it. Oh, I was so mad at myself for about an hour after the fact.
greetings. First off you can not bring any knife on a commercial flight anymore. It has to be in checked luggage.
the value of your S&W will be very dependant on how many people are really collecting them. You may wish to post a description of the knife on Blade Forum in the Bernard Levine section. Lots of knowledgable folks read it and would have an idea of the going price.

In AR. there is a place called gun and knife finishing supplies , they can lead you to collectors in your area . a guy ( I forget his 1st name ) LeVinne writes a yearly book on knife values
I have a Kershaw 1660ST that I carry all the time & a S&W SWAT Special Tactical in titanium camo that I sometimes carry (also first production run). There's a few SOG's in my toolbox.
The Kershaw has a way to flip it open like a switchblade as well as the usual thumb ***** on the side.
ZRX61 your kershaw sounds like a Ken Onion design with a spring assist , ( even legal here in Ca. ) sog's in your toolbox , what a sacraledge. I'm not that big of a fan of production knives , I made handmade custom knives for 9 yrs. before we moved , hope to start up again soon after the ford is done

Yeh, Thats Bernard Levine's guide. The latest authorized version is number 4.There is a #5, but that was printed without the authors approval or any royalties to him. Most knife collectors wont touch it.
