I just got my truck back with a new 6" lift and 35" tires.
Since this is all new to me, I was wondering if someone could share some info about what to do with the speedometer (and maybe drivetrain) I know there some coupler that Skyjakker sells that is supposed to fix this problem.
My question is this: What else do I need to modify to help ensure the best ride on a lifted truck
the widder wheel base will give you a better ride/stability around turns.
My 2 cents
how would wider rim give you better ride and stability.
now a wider tire will do this, also if you run up to a 17" diameter rim vs the 15" you will get less sidewall flex and that to will improve handleing but may suffer some off road unless your running a 35" or taller tire.
If you truck is lifted at 6" and have stock tires/rims you should be a little hesitant to go around turns at the same speed without the lift. The taller the vehicle gets the more TOP HEAVY it gets, meaning the widder wheel base, wider rim will give your vehicle more stability around turns.
no body is gonna lift there rig 6" and not put bigger tires on it. but regardless wider rims mean nothing. other then letting you run a wider set of tires . but you can run an 8" wide rim with a 12.50 wide tire and get the same result.
now backspacing will make the tire/rim stick out farthur from under the fender and increase the width but go to much and will run into issues.
Man dont waste your money on one of those speed adjusters. I have a 95 and you can do it yourself by grounding the wire on the little plug under your glove box and changing the ratio on the digital speedometer. There is a write up on this site somewhere that tells you how to do it and even gives you the number to change it to. It takes like 5 minutes to do it and doesnt cost a dime. You can change it up to like 6 times. But you will get it right on the first time with the write up.
