Exhaust MOD?

Is it possable or has anyone done this? I was wondering it you could cut the stock pipe after the muffer and ram a rod thue the muffler's insides to increase the flow aka noise and then put a union with some pipe clamps to re-attach the rest the system. If anyone has tryed this please post how it sounds.

Yes it is possible. All you should need is a coupler or two when you put the system back on.

tallpaul took a drill and drilled 1/2? holes in his muffler. IIRC he drilled about 20 or so and put some metal flashing around for a "echo" type of tip. im sure he'll chime in on how it sounds.

also, i dont think it'll be worth it to pound out the inside of the muffler due to the design.

I'm looking at the thursh turbo mufflers at one store and a 3' long piece of exhaust pipe with a turn down at another. Think it might be the ticket it will exit right before the axle and i will be able to use the stock mount points since it's an offest muffler. Total price about 50 bucks.

I might just cut the muffler off and run it that way for a while, "cost zero dollors".

We had an inline 6 at work that had the muffler fall off. The next day I was driving it around and I came to a red light. Beside me was a guy in a GMC. He looked over at me and kind of revved his truck. Here I was in a company truck with advertising on it and what not. Well, the light turned green and I floored it. You should have heard that engine! I peeled out of there and left the guy behind me. I think he was a little surprised. The truck sounds half decent with no muffler. (I think the cat was still on though)

IMO the 6 sounds good w/o a muffler and just cats. id say hack it off, throw on some pipe and call it a day or run it out the side w/ an echo tip. thats what i have and it sounds good to me.

Well the smog is the only inspection in IL so the muffler is not problem for me since my truck is a 1996 they just hook up to the OD2 computer and there done. My mustang 2000 GT passed the smog check with no CATS go figure good old o2 sims.
