302 Head Help!!
I need some help with my heads. I am buying basically everything new for my 79 302, and i need help within the heads. I have the comp cams high energy 268 k-kit which includes the cam, lifters, springs, retainers, and such, but i need to know what size and type of pushrods and rockers i need to go with. I'm going to buy comp cam high energy pushrods, and it gives three choices:
#1) Ford: 302, Retro-Fit hydraulic roller cam, 5/16 in. diameter, 6.400 in. long, High Energy pushrods
#2) Ford: 1985-95 302, OEM hydraulic roller cam, 5/16 in. diameter, 6.25 in. long, pushrods
#3) Ford: 1965-95 255-302, flat tappet, 5/16 in. diameter, 6.876 in. long, pushrods
I regretfully threw away my old ones before i thought about measuring them
O well. And with the rockers, i just dont know anything about them so i could really use everyones help! They are comp cams magnum steel roller tip rockers, and this one also gives three choices:#1) Small Ford: 1968-89 289-351W, 3/8 in. stud, 1.60 ratio, Magnum roller tip rockers (rail type, for use with guideplates)
#2) Small Ford: 1968-89 289-351W, 3/8 in. stud, 1.70 ratio, Magnum roller tip rockers (rail type, not for use with guideplates)
#3) Small Ford:1961-67 289-351W; Oldsmobile: 260-455 3/8 in. stud, 1.60 ratio, Magnum roller tip rockers (non-rail)
Now, the third was says 61-67, but the application says it can be used with fords with non rail rockers. If anyone can tell me which ones to use or maybe a different brand that you have used that works better, that would be great. I hope someone can help, because this is not my area. I may e-mail comp cams and see what they say too. Thanks for any help!
Danny
