When I purchased my 04 Supercrew Lariat I was offered a warranty from the dealer that was good for like 60,000 miles/ 5 years and was told that I could get my money back at the end if I didnt use it, however I opted for the 7yr / 100k mile warranty through ford which does not reimburse the price if it is unused. I was told the reimbursement was only offered through the dealerships, and the two plans were not that far apart in price. Has anyone else been given the same info and is it correct?
Thanks for the help.
BTW - I love the truck, it far exceeds what I was expecting. A night and day difference over my 2001 supercrew lariat. Everyone loves the black interior and the flow-through shifter.
Ford offers the "money-back-if-never-used" on all their warrantys, but it's an optional extra, and the cost of it (somewhere near $300) makes it no longer worth it, in my book.
The 100,000-mile warrantys are usually a LOT more than the other ones, so if you can buy it for close to the same price, jump on it. What level of coverage are they talking about? There are 4: Powertrain, Base, Extra, and PremiumCare.
I purchsed the premium care program 7yr / 100,00 mile plan. I believe the price was just under $1900 with a $200 deductible. I will check out the prices tonight and reply again later.
Why buy the extended warranty when your vehicle is under its own new factory warranty?
I would suggest purchasing the ESP just before your vehicle's own factory warranty runs out. You never know...you could smash the thing up, sell it, or have it stolen before your factory warranty is up. During the mean time keep the $$ in your own pocket.
The cost was actually $2055 with a $100 deductible for the 7yr / 100,000 mile plan - no refund if unused.
The dealer program was 6yr / 60,000 mile plan for $2000 - with refund if unused...
I'm confused- are these both Ford extended warranties? Because the 6-year/ 60,000 program is way overpriced if it's Ford's, but the 7-year/ 100,000-mile one is an absolute bargain- it's at dealer cost. I'm assuming these are both PremiumCare. Let me know exactly what you purchased.

The 6yr plan I was told was a service plan through the dealership - not Ford.
I purchsed the 7yr / 100,000 mile plan, which I was told is a Ford plan, for $2055 with a $100 deductible. I am glad to hear I got a good deal. I printed off a list of prices from a link I saw on this website. I didnt realize they were dealer cost, I just told the dealer that was the price and they gave it to me!
