The good news is that I found my exhaust leak. The bad news is that the two upper rear bolts/studs on the passenger side manifold are broken off. I have no idea it has been like this, it did not leak when I purchased the truck last year . How can I, with limited lnowledge and tools, get these out? I sure hope I don't need to take it to a shop, I can't aford any other expenses right now.
Thanks for the advice, Ray.
I broke one of on my truck. I know it's kind of redneck, but I just used a C-clamp, since the exhaust flange sticks up. It has yet to leak. I'd try that first. Any other way to fix it will most likely require removing the heads.
I broke a blot off once trying to take my passenger manifold off. I couldnt drill it broke an ez out, ended up blowing it out with a torch and using a bolt with a nut and washer with my headers.
the last time I did this, I bought the right tools.
1. A bolt extraction kit.
2. a right angle air drill
both from Harbor Freight Tools. It wasn't real cheap. I think the drill was about $50 and the extraction kit was probably about $15. But, it added to my tool collection, and it worked great.
I doubt that helped much, but I don't how you would do this without the right tools.
Oh yeah, get you some PB Blaster penetrating spray lubricant. Spray it early from the open back side of the manifold bolt hole. let it soak in a little before you try to remove the bolt.
