Gas gauge question
anyway, i i just got done installing the rear tank from an '88 bronco onto my '86 F-150. instead of having the 2 tanks concept, i'm gonna axe the side tank and just keep the extra capacity rear tank.
anyway, i got a dilemma now. aparently, the gas gauge isnt reading right. it reads the tank as just over half full, when there's only about 2.5 gallons of gas ($5.00 of gas @ $2.01/gal)
is there a resistance difference between '86 and '88, or did i screw up on the wiring, or is the float thing bad? i checked the resistance to see if it goes up and down with the float and it read fine.
i had to hack the plugs since they were different, so could it be my fault?
also, the side tank never reads more than just over half a tank when its full, so basiclly when the side tank is full, it reads what the rear tank is reading now at empty.
anyone?
is my gauge bad?
it is indeed reading backwards (low resistance at empty, high resistance at full)
i'm going to buy a new sending unit from JCW that cmes with a new gauge. mine wont go past 3/4 unless you tap it.
