HELP... 95 Explorer OD light on, engine code help!!
I have a 95 Explorer 4WD, 4.0, AT. The OD light is blinking. I've looked at other posts regarding this and I know I should pull the engine codes first. 1st question: IS the '95, EEC-IV or EEC-V? 2nd question: Where is the diagnostic link located?? I looked near the power distribution box and under the dash, but don't see it. 3rd question: I also have a '92 Explorer that has EEC-IV. I know where the link is and I have a code reader for it. Will the same reader work for the '95??
Also... the OD light is blinking and it seems like the trans is shifting a bit harder than normal from 1-2, 2-3, and back down. I'm assuming the 2 problems are tied together. Am I looking at needing a new trans, or could it be more minor??
Any and All help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!!
Mike
HELP... 95 Explorer OD light on, engine code help!!
the '95 is EEC-IV. the same code reader should work.
The plug for the reader is right behind the battery under the power distribution box to the right of the master cylinder (looking in towards the passenger compartment from the front of the vehicle)
Depending on what your error code is the computer might have "Kicked up" your fluid pressure in the transmission to compensate for what it believes to be wrong (this is called cripple mode by the transmission guys)
once you reset the error codes it should go back to normal
