fog light replace

Fog lamp burnt out on my 2001 F250. Is bulb replacement possible or must whole unit be replaced? The dealer wants a small fortune for the total assembly.

Just the lamp. It pops out from the back of the assembly. It should be either an 899 or 9145, both are readily availiable at any parts store. Try not to touch the new lamp with your fingers, use a cloth.

it comes out like a headlight bulb, about a 1/4 turn and it will come out. if you have a front license plate it makes it alot easier if you take that off it get at the bulbs

I had to pull the grill to get to it the first time...
but once I knew where they were - much easier !

If you're getting a new bulb - consider 9005's - direct replacement and MUCH more light!

Course that's not a good thing if you're in FOG, but hare in Texus I never see fog - only use tem for running lights !
