Dragging..

How can you tell if a 6speed trany is going. In 1st or 2nd gear the truck feels like it is binding. Like a brake drag. Has any one ever had this happen before? The truck is a 2000 F350 Power Stroke 6 speed drw with 15.000 miles on it. Please help me out.

Binding is not good. Does it make a gear whine noise when you accelorate? If so, your transmission needs rebuilding.

No whining noise . It does not drag all the time just once in a while.

Mine does the same thing every once in a blue moon. I've pretty much attributed it to me being lazy and not always pushing the clutch all the way in. These trannies are pretty noisy as well, so if you do hear some noise, it's probably gear rollover that's commonly associated with the ZF's. I haven't had any problems with mine though other than a clutch being replaced because of an oil leak killing the clutch lining.

Nope not a gear rollover the truck was in 1st gear and had gone at least 400ft

before it did it. Tha Ford dealer thinks the truck might be trying to grab 2nd on its own while in 1st.
