I am using a Wix oil filter (only one the parts store had in stock. I think wix and motorcraft are the only two available at htis time? Is this correct? I paid $22. Is this reasonable?

The NAPA guy told me WIX makes their oil filters. I just picked up two for $22 each. I also got my Blackstone sample kit so I'm ready to go. I will continue to use Rotella just like I did in my last PS.
I just ordered filters from www.filter1.com. If you order any mix of filters that add up to six the shipping is free. I paid $11.68 for the oil filter and $38 for the fuel filter set. They are Wix filters, and are one of the top rated filters. Wix also makes NAPA's filters. In my opinion with all the vehicles most of us own ordering six filters at a time is easy to do. Hope this helps.
Oldfart60. Somewhere on this site I read not to use the Wix fuel filters..I also believe someone stated that Ford had a bulletin on NOT using them. I like Wix in all my cars and bikes too. Anyone remembering this should comment...Thanks
I saw some research that had been done on many different brands of oil filters, where they actually cut them open and compared the media and the bypass mechanisms, and WIX rated very high. I don't believe FORD can tell you what oil and filter you are to use as long as the oil specs are correct for the application and you use the correct filter. That is assuming that you follow the oil change interval correctly.
60---This is for the FUEL filter only. I have bought and used Wix for the oil and the #'s are exact and both are from Germany. I don't have enough miles yet for the fuel and I read in this site about there use.
I orderd a six pack of oil filters from Oilguard, great price, racor filters. Got a 3 pack of fuel filters too. My oil analysis comes back very clean, good filtration reports.
I'nm glad you mentioned that. I ordered a new HMFC cap at the dealer a while ago and forgot to go get it. Mine trie4d to crossthread the last time I changed fuel filters, and I had to remove the entire moduel to get it back on straight. That was a major pain. If you have to do it, get the seal kit FIRST! All the lines run into a manifold on the side which is easily remove with 4 small bolts, BUT the gasket/seal of the manifold is like a rubber ladder looking thing and "grows'. Cannot be reused, and will leak if not replaced properly.
