Hi all! 4r70w in a95 F-150....302.I had this buzzing or rattling sound coming from my tranny pan.I went to the tranny shop they said I had a valve stuck .They replaced the vale and put in a shift kit.The buzzing returned no where as severe.I called them they said I would get some noise from the wear of the stuck valve. My question is would any of you use a additive such as Lucas tranny fix.It was the only one that said it would help stuck valves or are these bad for your tranny or snake oils? Thanks for your response!

I, for one, will not use any additives in an automatic transmission. I have had to overhaul a few transmissions that had additive. Sometimes it is very difficult to remove clutch pistons because of swollen rubber seals.
Ford now recommends Mercon V in all 4r70w transmissions (as per TSB).
Thanks Rclarke,
The tranny shop put Mercon in.I ask about the Mercon 5. They said that Mercon is all that they use.Would it be worth it to change the fluid?I heard you can siphon the new fluid thru the cooler lines in the radiator and expel the old out the bottom radiator lines.Anyone done this?
Thanks again.
Mercon V is a partial synthetic blend with different additives. I think the transmission might operate more smoothly, but if you have fresh mercon III I wouldn't go to the trouble to change it again. Consider the Mercon V next time you change the fluid.
I put lucas in my tranny and it not only stoped a leak from front of tranny but made it run better also. Ive put 300 miles on since and still working.I was skeptical about additives to but Lucas was reffered to me by every parts store i went to. My tranny is running cooler also. I say dump in about 3/4 of a bottle of lucas.
