AC wont stay cold

Weird thing. I have an 88 bronco and the air stopped working (actually never worked from when I bought it). Took it to a shop where they converted it and refilled it with the new freon.. worked a while, then stopped working. Took it back, they told me it was a bad compressor (was making some weird noise) but not to be stupid, I took it to another shop.. they tell me its a bad accumulator and you have to change it if you change the freon.. so.. changed the compressor, the accumulator, and the orifice tube, and was blowing snow.. WONDERFUL!!! well.. now its being psycho and being cold when it wants to. Sit at idle goes warm (fast).. then cold.. then warm.. drive down the freeway keeping same rpm cold.. then warm.. then cool.. driving around town yields the same.... I am about to go crazy. I checked the pressure and it is perfect (about 35lbs and steady) so that isnt the problem. I am going stark raving mad!!!!

Any A/C gurus out there that could give a guy an idea or two?

Oh, I have a 5.0 with AOD auto tranny running stock fan and new radiator.

Just a thought on that, may or may not be worth checking into. I had the same symptoms on my Kenworth and it ended up being a bad compressor clutch. It would engage just fine at times, but sometimes would hang up unengaged even though power was applied to it. Smacked the face of it with a hammer (lightly) and it engaged, provoking the proverbial "A-HA!"
