i would really love to build a 7-8k motor though i just dont know how to get there.

my monte carlo i had would hold 7k all day. BUT you need a very deep pocket. the bottom end was completly forged( crank,rods,pistons) i had brodix heads, a complete comp cams roller valvetrain( thats why i run a comp in my 390) what you have to do is make sure everything is in spec, like spring pressures ,clearences and all that. anything can run up to 7-8k but will it make power while its up that high ! to make things short, you basically have to design your motor to run that high.

Lightweight crank, rods and pistons are what you need.Strong lightened components cost big $$$.
