95 Explorer XLT - Engine Surge
When I'm stopped at a light my Explorer will surge forward and cause me to apply the brakes harder. At first I thought it might be the brakes, but I went driving and using neither the brakes nor the accelerator I found that the engine would surge and cause the car to leap forward a bit. Any ideas on what might be causing this? Also, I had my oil changed and noticed that my driveshaft was "sweating" oil where it comes into contact with the rear differential. It's not leaking, but I want to know how serious this might be and whether or not it's worth to fix immediately. The Explorer has 320000 kms on it.
Any help is appreciated.
Evan
Hi Evan, I agree with the previous post that it could be your TPS, might want to get the codes out if there are any. It could also be dirty throttle plates or IAC motor.
I presume you had the engine oil change and not the rear end? Oil sweating on the diff like you said may not be an immediate problem but it is signs that the seal is leaking so you might want to save up a few bucks to fix it....likely around 80.00 if you are from trent univ...is that in Trenton?

Yeah, It's the rear differential that's sweating. Nothing wrong with the engine oil. Replaced it last week as a mater of fact.
Thanks for the advice. I'll start saving right now ;-)
