Question Engine flush?

While down at checker this morning I saw a quart of engine flush.
Does this stuff work and most importantly will it harm my engine in anyway? It has 120K on it. Or am I better of just dropping the oil pan, clean it out and use a good oil like Delo 400?

Personally I wouldn't do it. If you loosen the grim, you could possibly stop up some of the oil passages. Then, again, I wouldn't do anything, but continue to use a good quality oil. Its alot of work to get the pan off, just to remove some debris, if any.

If you want to clean it out, use a good diesel oil. Run it for 1000 miles or so and drain it and put in another good gas oil. Don't use those flushes. Not a good idea. If you want you can scroll down the forum list and take a look around the oil and lubrication forum. A LOT of great info there! Good luck!

a good flush

I have a 302 in my e-150 and a few months ago lost ALL oil pressure and engine started clanging...not a pleasant thought is it?...I have 180,000 miles on the motor so I thought it was done for, a goner...old dad said to drain the oil and put in two gallons of deisel fuel, in crankcase, and let it set overnight or as long as I could...DO NOT START ENGINE....I thought it was too late for that or any other solution cause engine had nearly siezed up....but I did it...I let it sit with the deisel fuel in the engine all weekend and drained it completely sunday evening...put in new oil and filter and crossed my fingers....better oil pressure than when I drove it from the dealership...no clanging...even seemed to run a little better...I still have some blowby but it worked for me.....
