I have a 1989 F-350, with a 7.5l EFI. 5- speed tranny. The problem is I cant get it to go into any gear. I have replaced the clutch, pressure plate and the bearing. I also replaced the master cyl., line, and the slave cyl. I have bled the system. I still get no clutch. I can see the slave pushing on the fork that holds the bearing. How much does the fork move? Mine moves about one inch with the pedal at full travel. The pedal feels real weak. This may be a dumb question, but, someone asked me if I put it in backwards. is this possible? I thought it only goes on one way. Please help! if i dont get this truck running soon, Ill have to get rid of it and I dont want to do that.( I love this truck). Any help will be a gift from above! thx, Frank.
the piston for the master could be upside down or missaligned.
read your haynes manual on how to properly align it with the master cylinder.
everything else sounds like it should be right, so its probably there in the master cylinder.
did you ahve somebody underneath looking through the hole in the bell houseing to see if the clutch was moveing or not?
if you dont know what hole i'm takling about, there should be one with a rubber seal or what not on the drivers side of the m5od. its about 2 inches tall and 4-5 inches wide.
if you look inside it after you take off the ruber cap/cover you will see the clutch, just get somebody down ther eiwth a flashlight and you get in and push the clutch in slowly. or have them do it and you watch. be sure to engage the parking break!!!
question number 2. can you get it into gear while the truck is stoped?
The master cyl. is working properly because when I press the pedal, I can see the fork moving. It seems like it should move more than it does. It moves about one inch. I am going to try to see if the clutch is moving in the tranny. Answer to question 2, yes , with the engine stopped , I can get the tranny in all gears. How much should the fork move? and is it possible to put the something in backwards? (pressure plate or bearing)
