Question Id D60

What is the best way to determine if it's a Dana 60 or not if there's no ID tag?

On the right bottom web, there is a "60" cast into it. It may be covered in grime, though, so you will have to dig. Ted

I haven't figured out how to put a picture in the post, so if you look in my pictures at the "underside" pics, there is a picture of my rear axle. On the right of the black cover is some yellow of the housing. The "60" will be on the right yellow web that extends down from the right tube to the bottom of the pumpkin. It should be right below the yellow "hole" that is on the edge and dead even with the drain plug. Hope this helps, Ted

Also the bolts that hold the diff cover on the heads of the bolts on a dana 44 are 1/2 inch whereas on the d60's they are 9/16 inch

Thanks guys
Scott
PS- Ted, what made the 2wd to 4wd conversion on your project so difficult?- I am about to do this on a 76 F150 with a 79 F250 donor truck.
