Rookie ident problems

Thinking this is a 9" rear end (not an 8.8)?

The transfer case is more than likely an NP208. If you look at the red circular tag on the back, it'll tell you the make and low range of the case.
All of those parts are pretty stout if you don't abuse the crap out of them.
BTW, the if the tranny is a 4 speed without O.D., it's gonna be an NP435, which is an awesome trans!
Front end is a TTB Dana 44, same gearset as a standard high pinion 44, same locking hubs, and, that's about it.
Your t-case is a NP 208, and that really looks to be a NP 435 hiding under there.
B [76-78] - BW T-85 3 Speed
C - Ford Manual 3 Speed [the 3.03 I think]
D - BW T-89 3 speed
E - BW T-87 3 speed
F - BW T-18 4 speed
A [76-86] - NP 435 4 speed
P - BW T-19 4 speed
B [79-86] - Clark 4 speed OD
G - C4
W - C5
P - C6 through 77
K - C6 78-86
J - FMX
T - AOD

Okay, I crawled back under tonight, and checked out the red tag. It fell off in my hands as I was rubbing the dirt off to see the numbers (needless to say...unreadable)
The only thing I can make out of it, at the bottom of the tag where the ratio is supposed to be, there is a 6 right in the middle...but don't know if there was a number to the left (a hole there now) and to the right of the 6 it is totally unreadable (maybe a 2 or Z???).But...the door sticker was readable and has:
VIN = 2FTEF14N3GCB41521 (time to find that vin reader thing)
Ext = 112
Paint/Color = F141
Body = LB3
Trans = A
Axle = H6
Tape =
Spring = B3L
So...ha...Dana 44, 9" rear (with 3rd member?), Transmission is a NP 435 with 6.68-1 ratio, Transfer Case is a NP 208... and this is all good?

Up on the lift, the mechanic rotated the tires quickly about 6 mths ago...figures around 3 1/2 gear ratio (didn't know the exact ford numbes i.e. 3.42?).
An old truck, but love it! Quick hx of it, bought in '86 by someone, my grandfather bought it with 10,000 km on it (about 6k miles) 2 years later and was the 3rd owner by then (it was special ordered, the first guy sold it right away, as did the second owner). After my grandfather passed away about 7 yrs ago...I inherited it with 20,000 km on it...and very little paint left from sitting out in the yard most of the time. He found it really hard on gas (about 3-6mpg out of the 302 fuelie), as well as it seemed to rev really high at highway speeds (I run in town at 50km/hr in 4th gear...comfortably...wish there was a 5th gear for the highway).
So...rebuilding the thing now as rust has taken over, and just hit the 67,000km mark (after 18yrs...what...40K miles?).
Anyhow...thanks again for all the info on this truck, as it will help with the rebuild, and my general knowledge of my ole stepside.
