It's alive!!!!!!!!!
My BERTHA is alive. It's been 2 years since she stop working and I been fixing
her since then. One day she just stop in the middles of road and refuse to start, Little by little of money , time and place to do it , new pieces I been installing to the engine. New parts like plugs, wires, coil, sending unit in tank, fuel pump, battery, battery wires, carburator, timing gear, distributor, engine module, alternator, new gaskets for manifolds in and ex, head, valve cover and oil pan, new water neck, hoses, radiator has only 3000 miles, so the tires, the flywheel and the starter. Some parts are colored, red, blue black they look clean.
It's been fun, but w/ frustrations also. Cold beer?? ofcourse!!!
2 days ago I turned the key and it did start, cool right???
The only thing that the truck it's doing now, smokes from the manifols when it gets hot, don't know if the smokes comes from the ex or the intake, cause the fan it's blowing and i get blinded from the smoke, when i turn the engine offand cools down stop smoking. I torque the bolts to hold manifolds to specs
33 lbs soooo!!
Guys tell please if these could be the problem: when I installed the manifolds to the head I didn't know to put graphite oil and I put high temp resistant silicone for the gaskets, same thing w/ the head gasket. Could be that the heat it's burning the silicone???? and that's why smokes from the manifolds, also I painted them w/ high temp black paint.
Any answer might help. THANKS
I guess it was what you said, let it burn off. Now it starts but after it gets hot, i'll try to take off for a drive around the block ,stalls, I know i have to play w/ the vac lines.
It's everytime I put on gear ,i give gas and dies, , plus i have to hold the choke open and remote start it.
