My Van has a problem leaking fuel from a fitting at the bottom of the filter. I have never seen this fitting on other models. Any help with what it is and what it does? I'm also having trouble with my glow plug light only staying on for 3 seconds then cycling the solenoid. Any suggestions? These things are foreign to me. Thanks for your help!
I have an 88 F-350 and the filter assembly has the same components as your van. If you have the stock setup, it should have three things on the bottom; the drain valve, the water in fuel sensor, and the vent. The first thing is just to make sure the drain valve is completely closed, it would be nice if that was your only problem there.
The short cycling of your glow plugs may be caused by one or more bad glow plugs. Even one bad plug can cause the glow plug controller to shut the system down early. If you check and all plugs are good, then maybe there is a break in the wiring harness, or the controller is on its way out.
Hope this helps, if you need any more details, let me know, Ill do what I can to help,
