Hi All, I have a 2004 F350 CC W/ the 5.4L and have a question. What are the four loose wires that hang on the wiring loom next to the drivers side hood hinge. It looks like a red , white , black, and blue I think? Also, do the power programmers actually do anything for the shifting of the transmission?
Those wires run through the firewall and are under the driver's side dash, to the right of the steering column (if I remember correctly). Ford put these wires there for you to use rather than having to try and fish new wires through the plug at the firewall, for fog lights, alarms, etc...
Yes, the programmers have options to adjust shift points, and make the shifting firmer or softer, depending on your needs.. They are all dependent on the year and model of the truck, as well as what program the truck is using, as to what options they will offer.
