compression
well since i got to go through my motor, i was thinking about shaving my heads to up the compression some. i'm running edelbrock rpm heads with speed pro forged pistons. i figure i have around 9-1, 9.5-1 comp right now. i would like 11-1 comp. is this possible? also i'm running 175 hp shot of nos, would 11-1 comp be too much for nos?

Your ability to raise your compression depends on a several things, among them:
Your cam.
Your cams installed specs.
Your altitude.
Your timing.
Your fuel.
The weight of your vehicle.
If you can raise your compression, I wouldn't cut a nice set of heads to do it. You might try a set of steel head gaskets, which are fairly thin.
Unfortunately nobody will be able to say for sure if you can raise it or not. It's a judgement call.

you should be able to get plenty of power in the 9-9.5 range. Just get the rest of the motor to compliment that, mainly the cam.
plus, you can run on regular gas. At 11:1 you might run into issues with lower octane juice.

my buddy just said the same thing !! he said it ran good before don't screw it up !! i guess i'll just buy the forged 390 crank and my dual quad set-up ( mainly for looks ! ) and the nos for the dual quads.

if you want loooks, get a 6-pack. The yare on ebay all the time and the ylook the coolest to me. I'm sure they take some tuning, but it might be worth it.

i'll have to look into that, but i don't think i could use my nos with a 6 pack? i do like the way they look though :-) !! you got me thinking now !
