Disc Brake Conversion (New)
So it either takes 2 different spares, or FoMoCo P-Car axles in truck rear end because ya can't space lugs in any Mopar rotors at 5.5" o/c. Why do I want to run tiny little discs, small pattern wheels & non Ford truck pieces parts just to skim a few bucks? Isn't the notion of installing Disc brakes really to appreciate the quality of my Slick to begin with? Isn't it why we call it an up grade in 1st place, or did I just miss something there ?
Also I disagree about being expensive, unless you buy some aftermarket kit to do it. If FoMoCo OEM stuff from a donor or salvage vehicle is used, it's not expensive at all. More over it all remains stock OEM Ford script parts with the exception of having to use other than 65-66 wheels because they don't fit disc hubs. In some cases calipers interfere with wheel rim when using 13" trlr spcl disc set up also.
I'm not into these trucks to save money. I'm into them because I like them. When all is said & done, a lot more gets said, a lot less gets done. I learned to do very best I can, which usually turns out to be best quality & best result
with least hassle, least effort, but not least expensive. There's a saying we only get what we pay for. What I'm saying is the objective for me is to make a positive difference towards improving my Slick.
Sacrificing performance, quality, or effectiveness to save a buck does not fit that concept to me. Why settle for make do when I set out make better?
Just my overbearing opinion on Disc Brake Upgrade conversions.
