Today I removed the intake tube between the throttle linkage and air filter on my '99 Mazda B4000. I unplugged all wires and hoses and cleaned. Arter drying I plugged everything back in and installed the tube. Now my "Check Engine" light will not go out. I did remove a small sensor(inside tube) to gently clean it with soap and water.
Any ideas....

That's probably the air intake temp sensor. Have Pep Boys or Autozone or whoever read the code, then rhave them eset it. The condition that set the code may be permanently gone by now. If the code indicates a problem with the sensor you cleaned, and the code persists, you may have damaged it.
Before anything else, you should unplug the sensor wiring connector and see if there is moisture under its electrical connector cap. Dry the insides of the connector and the pins on the sensor well - then coat the insides of the connecting pin areas with dielectric grease (non-conducting). You can get a small tube of that at any parts store (while you have them read the code, perhaps).
