I have a 98 Exp 4wd that has been having ABS issues. The ABS first engaged at low speeds several times until the ABS light would go on. Now, the light is on all the time. I have read several old posts on the wheel sensors being a probable culprit.
Is there any way I can check the sensors with my multimeter and determine if they are acceptable?
The front sensors should be 3.8-4.8K ohms and the rear should be .8-3.5K ohms. The front ones both need to be very close to the same resistance. Also look at the teeth on the exciter ring. On the front it is inside the hub. You remove the sensors and then look in the hole and turn the wheel while you watch the ring. If it has any broken teeth or cracks in the ring that will cause problems.
