chip vs reprogrammer

Ok, I know its all been had out before, but here goes...

I just detuned my PSD, I had a Hypertech reprogrammer in it, but am selling it to another coworker so he can use the automatic stuff. Mine is a 6spd.
I am likeing the bullydog 4 chip set, but am looking for pros/cons, or user opinions. I also wouldnt be above just a regular old chip, or another reprogrammer.

I tow a bit, but mainly on road stuff. When I tow, its mainly heavy, with a gooseneck. My rig has 4" pipe all the way back, and a KN filter. Other than that, it is bone stock...

Thanks for the help, and I hope I dont open a hornets nest...

i have only had flip chips, my first was a 3 pos now i have a 4 pos and would not own anything else. it is just great to be able to go from stock to 100+ hp at the flip of a switch,(like when you are sitting at a stoplight and a hemiroid pulls up next to you) or if i am towing and things get a little to hot i can just turn it down and keep going. i never have to reprogram it, i am never left saying "i sould have changed the program befroe i left"
someting else i just thought of, we have emmissions tests for diesels here in colorado and i can bring the truck in, set the chip to stock, and pass with flying colors

I was hard pressed to think of any downfalls with them, I like the idea of being able to tune on the fly...Do you know what kind of EGTs you get on the middle setting?, Say the 60HP one?

my chip has a stock,+50,+75 and +120 hp settings, i use the +50 most of the time and under normal driving the egt will run 450-650, and even in the +120 mode i can floor it up to 90mph and it will still not hit 1200. when i tow my camper(2500# lance slide in) and my boat(about 4000#) it will run 850-1050, but if i keep your foot in it i can hit 1250 pretty easy in the tow mode(+50hp) pretty easy pulling a big hill

Yea - I'm with Wlihntr on this one - I had a SCMT and after a few months I upgraded to a 4-pos. flip chip. I would never ever go back (though I hung on to the SCMT for its code reading ability) and my chip definitely blows the tuner away as far as raw power increase. I would also suggest a chip as the way to go!

Bully Dog 4 bank and loving every minute of it. Once you go RAW POWER you can never go back. Well you can but you won't like it.

We can always go to AutoZone for the codes or just buy a reader at Sears.
