check engine light question

Git a question for you guys.
My check engine light came on the other day.Truck is running fine. I took up to the auto parts store the guy scanned it reset it and told me my gas cap was bad,,cool. Changed it . Worked until i put gas in it again, came back on. Went back . the cap he sold me was defective ,,wouldnt click when tight or something. He gave me anouther one . the light came back on after about a hour or so of driving. I cleaned around the fuel neck ,,put the cap back on tight. Is there anyway to reset this light besides going back up there and have him do it? And is this a common problem?

Thanks for your help.

You have a leak in the fuel vapor system, it may not be the cap. You really should look elsewhere if the cap isn't fixing it. It could be a line , or the cannisters leaking. It may even have a bad sensor or solenoid.
