96 Explorer won't start
Won't start this morning; turn the key and it wants to start but doesn't engage; thought it might be fuel pump but I don't hear any hum if I turn the key to acc. Please help...

Tried that and didn't hear the sound, my brother advised me to tap the fuel tank with key on "on" and then I was able to hear the hum and the car started. Guess I need to replace the dying fuel pump. Thanks for the help.

Before replacing the fuel pump, make sure you are getting spark to the plugs. If you're not getting spark, then the problem may be ignition related. Also, if it is fuel related, have you considered checking the fuel inertia switch?? If the inertial switch has been tripped, you won't get power to the fuel pump. Lastly, you might want to check the fuel pump relay located in the power distribution box. All of these checks are a lot easier than putting in a new fuel pump.
