I have a 1998 f-150 and my right turn signal works intermittently. The turn signal will work fine if I hold the turn signal up to the point before it holds itself. I have read several postings about replacing the multifunction switch. Is there another name for this part? I have search for this part and can’t find it. Or does anyone have a part number? Is this part hard to replace? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Just did one on my truck. The right blinker would blink real fast when I clicked it on. There are directions in many threads with detailed instructions and job takes about 15 minutes. The multi switch is actually the whole blinker arm and switch as one piece. It is held in by two screws (torx). Once you get the column cover off (3 phillips screws), carefully unplug the two wiring harnesses toward the rear and remove the whole assembly. I bought a new one at the dealer for $60. They list for about $80. Most dealerships know what part you need. I did find it on the "Advanced Auto" website but the price was over $100 so it was logical to go with the ford part. Good luck
My '98 Ford Explorer's brake lights don't go on and it sounds like it might be this multifuntion switch because the collision avoidance light works.
Does this make sense?
Where are the instructions for installing this switch?

Not sure if replacing the switch would fix your brake light problem. The multifunction switch was fairly easy to replace and I no instructions on how to do so. I just loosened up several star screws to remove the steering column and then pulled out the switch.
