I am new to this forum. I found it because I was looking for a place to see if anyone else has the problem that I am having. I have a 2002 Ford F150 2X2 Super Crew. It had 26,000 miles on it when we got it from a local dealer. A couple days later I noticed that at 62 mph there is a vibration in the seats and floor boards. Since I first taken it in till 15,000 miles later I have had new tires, rims and new motor put into this truck. Now the motor problem was found just lately when I finally talked them into looking at something else besides the tires. Cylinder 5 was low on compersion and after a ring job did not fix it they replaced the engine with a Ford long block. But the vibration is still there and now they are scratching there head and I am not getting anywhere. I was wondering if anyone else has had the vibration in the seat and floor board and what they found to be the problem.
Hi Clyde and welcome to the forum
Is the vibration high or low frequency? A tire type vibration will usually be low frequency, like a shimmy. A driveline vibration will usually be higher frequency, almost like a buzz feel.
Thanks for the respone Racerguy. I guess you would call it a low frequency shimmy. You feel it in the seat and floor board. I think the best way to explain it is like a wheel weight on the back tire is missing and gives you that shimmy. I had 2 sets of rims and 3 sets of tires the last ones are brand new put on the truck and did not fix it.
Well thats one of my problems. I have not taken it to another dealer yet but I can not get them to look into the problem. They admit that the shimmy is there. It had 26,000 miles on it when I got it and I went back to them 2 days later and explained the problem. They keep telling me it's normal and it's not bad enough that Ford will fix it. I have never had a truck to shimmy like that. I all ready called Ford and that did not get me anywhere.
