paintin the block
wooohoo time to paint and assemble only i do not have a clue on painting or prep. i degreased the block and now i have a residue i cant seem to get off. smells like diesel.i have rubbed and rubbed with clean towels now i am thinkin some sort of carb cleaner might dry cleaner ? please direct me in the proper steps ?i dont want to have flakin paint in 2 months

I usually used lots of harsh soapy water and elbow grease. You have to get the bores really clean anyway and most solvents won't remove the trash from a boring/honing oil. If you are already assembled, then use carb cleaner or something like paint thinner, but don't smoke or do it where there is a flame present.
