Need Ford Manual
Does anyone have acess to a 1999 FORD explorer overhaul manual that shows the steps to replace ft output shaft seal on electronic transfer case. Ford tech told me case has to be removed and disassembled to replace ft seal.I would just like to comfirm this, Thanks.

Hi djwford and welcome 
Yes the transfer case has to come out and apart to replace the front output seal.
The shaft is held in by a snap ring inside the case.
And yes it's a stupid way to build a transfer case

Transfer case seal
Thanks Racerguy, for confirming that case has to come out. I just changed the fluid in it so am going to see if that mite soften seal up a bit, but if not the dealer where I got it said they would look after it, and tnx for this web site.djwford
