460 Missing at WOT

My '88 460 seems to be stumbling / missing at WOT only when going up hill. Also, it seems to bog down at times when full throttle is applied when going under 55mph.

Any suggestions?

You can start with a new fuel filter?

I agree, fuel filter first. If that doesn't fix it, then plugs and plug wires, and inspect dizzy cap & rotor for cracks and/or carbon tracks.....

spark plug wires, spark plug wires, spark plug wires. they're cheap, often overlooked and often the problem. change the fuel filter, but in 5 years of working a parts counter and twice as muchworking on broken cars, i have never seen a fuel filter fix anything. they just need to be changed as maintenence. good luck and hope it works out for you.

I have been behind the wheel of a 460 powered truck when the fuel filter reached the plugging point, it's a hard symptom to misdiagnose. And IMO it isn't going to keep running long, it will go from bad to worse rather quickly. '88 is EFI right? I can't remember whether it is or not. On an EFI vehichle I'd check air filter, plugged cat, EGR valve, and fuel pump if the filter doesn't improve things. Just my 2 cents.
