Derek - all we have is opinions here - so we'll play nice :-)
The "lag" with the pedal IS maddening isn't it ?
but that is more for the throttle "non-linkage" than anything...
remember it's LIKE the jets - it's a fly by wire... the throttle pedal is just a potentiometer that sends a signal to the PCM to say "Go..."
there will be some lag....
but this can be alleviated by holding the brake and giving it a bit of fuel when you THINK you need to spring out into the traffic flow...
I promise you, I've never seen traffic flow the predator couldn't get me up to speed into VERY quickly :-)
What I've found with the Predator (and this is the only one I've tested personally on the 6-oh - had a scmt for my 7.3L but sold it) is that the "lag" is MUCH less and the power comes on VERY fast...
(re - many are reporting less than 2 second 60 foot times at the drags ! This is phenominal for street tires and what these things weigh!)
And note that at the strip the first gear performance is such that I don't think I would be ABLE to reach up and shift to second if I had manual tranny !
What the +65HP mode does for ME is the complete change in driveability of the beast... it's no longer a lumbering beast - it's now just a BEAST in the best sense of the power and responsiveness of the engine...
It's hard to put it into words... but if you are anywhere close to someone with one - go for a ride with them - you WILL be sold.... (oh, you're in Alberta !!! I'll come to you :-)
I guess this is why Motorhaven gives you a 30 day return policy on it... once you get used to it you won't let go of it !!!!
Good luck with your decision...
but don't wait to long - you WILL be posting after u get it ---
"Why did I wait so long?" Many have here !
Well said Kingondubs !!!
And more politically correct than I would have
My gallery has my dyno sheet and Choctaw Bob's has his...
granted they may not be the "perfect" conditions or they may not have been "controlled" with lock and key... but at least they are there !
I'm feel the same as you... if they don't answer the question asked and do a song and dance about all this blah, blah and that blah, blah - there must be a reason !!!
"And it ain't usually good for us consumers "
The Ole saying
"Burn me once, shame on you, burn me twice, shame on me" has never been more true...
And I have been toasted before I'm such a trusting person....
so it's either answer my question or leave :-o cuz my BS meter is WELL tuned now !
And NOTHING runs off customers faster than BS !!!!
Need opinions..... taking into consideration price, Hp and torque gains as well as engine and tranny safety. Do most of you recommend something like the Banks six gun or edge juice or a programmer instead such as the superchip? I have gauges already and tow an 8000lb dry weight travel trailer. Want something I can have fun with as well as increase fuel and towing performance., thanks in advance
The Predator makes more POWER and has great customer service. They have a downloadable interface so you can download any updates and save your original flash to disk. Check out my dyno sheet on my gallery.
It improves mileage if you can keep your foot out of it.
JDAdamsjr- I am doing the Superchips/Predator dance as well. The most important thing for me is for to power to "move" lower into the powerband, and better fuel econ. I love the truck but I really don't like the push-the-gas-pedal-1/2-to-the-floor-and wait-for-the-engine-to-catch-up feeling. That dead first 3/4" of pedal is driving me crazy. I know I'll get used to it, but if the tuners help reduce this- I'll get one.
I did post a simular ? in the superchips thread, but just trying to get as many opinions as possible. Thanks for any help.
Look at my dyno sheet on my gallery. The predator gives a very broad flat powerband from just off idle.
Sorry, but here i go!!! Just got home from work. Who cares: right!!! But I drove home in my 2003 f-350 PSD with the BANKS Six Gun. Speed Loader. down pipe and three gauge pod freshly installed.
Have yours run on a reliable dyno and post the results on your gallery like I did. It will help the folks make up their mind.
I offered to chip in to get one of the superchips guys to do his so I could have a comparison to see if I wanted the Superchips, but never heard back....
Thanks for all the replys. Did not mean to start a war but I guess I should have expected it. I like talking to people who use the products real life rather than just reading what the Mfg's say about things. I do appreciate the dyno sheets that a couple of you have posted and as of now I am leaning towards the Predator. Even more so after reading that the Superchips is not warranted for the 2003 6.0 whats up with that?

is there another product that we dont know of? does one of the smaller businesses make 6.0 stuf now?
info, even if not something sold by motorhaven, is good. we have a huge thread on water injection, and motorhaven doesnt sell that.....
I think Rolling Big Power has a chip or maybe they tweak the Edge, not sure on this, but it looked like more HP than the standard Edge. They do some wild things to trucks such as their Ford Stage III which includes Propane Injection.
Also SP Diesel's Eliminator and Eliminator-X is a new product in development and not currently advertised, they are estimating between 90 to 120 hp at the rear wheel. I have the opportunity to do a beta test and get a free product, but am uneasy about it.
