I ordered a 6" SkyJacker lift for my early 99 PSD and instead of using the package because it only had a 4" lift for the truck in the back I got the rear for the late 99. I talked to a tech and he said it would be fine, so I went ahead and did this. Now the difference between an early 99 and a late one is the early has a 4" block, and the late has a 2" block. So I've got a couple extra inches. Sweet.... Now the question is... I ordered the correct setup for the front to make sure it work right and it should only be a 6" lift. I've now got the motor back in and everything and just about to start the truck up for the first time and the truck is still sitting level in the front. Does this mean they sent me an 8" lift for the front instead??? That would mean that they decided to send me the 8" instead of the 6" up front on their own, Cause I never asked for it. I love that I've got it level with out using a leveling kit too... What do you guys think???
I would say that if the truck is sitting level and you have no miles on it yet. there is a good chance that the front will end up lower than the rear. I put a six inch skyjacker lift on my 96 and when I got done doing the lift the rear sat lower than the front and after the springs settled and got broke in, the front dropped a little lower not to much but you can tell.so I would say that if you got a total of a six inch lift in the rear you will probably want to go with the eight inch in the front. That is just my advice though. I would do it and go for a set of 38's.
ReSD, most lifts for fords lift the rear less then the front so the truck winds up level when it's done. With your combination of parts maybe you just got lucky.
