help with sanding please
hey all-I'm in the process of prepping my Harley for paint-needed to do a skim coat of Bondo on the fenders because the aftermarket fenders are a little wavy-My problem is keeping the contours consistent when sanding the bondo-Ive tried flexible sanding blocks-sanding at different angles etc-I'm getting really frustrated-flat areas arent a problem-the compound curves are driving me nuts-I seem to either sand too much or not enough-I'm about to the point of having somebody in a body shop do the last skim coat for me-anybody got any suggestions???????
Before I got the sanding blocks I did the fenders by hand and they turned out real good. The fenders are all rounded with a hairline peak on the top so it took me a few weeks to get them right.
Patience is really the trick. Don't try to sand off too much at one time.
Carlene is right, patience is the key, walking away and returning later seems to help.
Thanks for the input-I guess persistence is key-what the plan is-parts were sand blasted then primed with PPG DPLF40-do the fill work and a final glaze with evercoat glazing putty-re prime with the DPLF40-hit it with K36 primer surfacer and block sand-seal with the DPLF40 (reduced) and then start the color coats with DBC-this is my first adventure in this so if ANYBODY has input I'm all ears
